WI Members Preserve Poppy Tribute in Trysull
Trysull and Seisdon WI members have once again honored the tradition of displaying poppies on the war memorial at Trysull church. This marks the fourth consecutive year the groups have arranged the Remembrance Day poppy display there.
Efforts Behind the Tribute
Members dedicated significant time knitting thousands of poppies as a tribute to all who sacrificed their lives in war. In addition to the traditional red poppies, some purple poppies were included to recognize the animals that served and died alongside soldiers.
Preparation and Installation
- The poppies were carefully washed and dried before use.
- Several members then worked on attaching the poppies to fresh netting.
- The completed display was securely fixed to the Trysull war memorial.
“While we were busy doing this several passers-by commented on how lovely they looked. A fitting tribute to all those who gave their lives.”
