Senior Liberal Senator Sarah Henderson has voiced concerns about Sussan Ley's leadership amid a growing internal debate over the Coalition's net zero policy.
The Liberal Party faces pressure to clarify its position on net zero following the Nationals' abandonment of the policy. A decisive meeting is scheduled for Sunday, November 16, to determine the Coalition’s final stance.
"I cannot support the way things are," Senator Henderson said, expressing doubt about the current leadership.
In an interview with Sky News Australia host Peter Stefanovic, Henderson, who opposes the net zero policy, stated that Ley is losing backing within the partyroom.
Henderson highlighted the party's poor Newspoll results, noting a primary vote of only 24 percent. She admitted she cannot "pretend things are good" and acknowledged growing dissatisfaction within the party.
"I do have to say, really honestly, I do think Sussan is losing support, but I do believe in miracles, we can turn things around."
