Elder Gérald Caussé Called to Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

Elder Gérald Caussé was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Thursday. His ordination was performed by President Dallin H. Oaks along with other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ,” Caussé said. “He’s always been in the center of my life. And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ. That’s the best responsibility or stewardship we might have in our lives.”

The Church explains that Apostles are "special witnesses of the name of Christ throughout the world." They are also tasked with significant administrative duties, including overseeing the operation and development of the global Church.

Gérald Caussé, age 62, was born in Bordeaux, France. He has served as the Presiding Bishop for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has been active in his ministry worldwide.
