Canon EOS R6 Mark III– 33MP Sensor & 7K Open Gate Internal RAW Recording - Newsshooter

Canon EOS R6 Mark III Announced

Canon introduced the new EOS R6 Mark III, which shares many features and functions with the Canon EOS C50 but is designed primarily for still photography. Despite this focus, the R6 Mark III offers impressive video capabilities.

Sensor and Video Features

The EOS R6 Mark III follows the R6 Mark II, released over three years ago, and the original R6 from July 2020. It sports the same 32MP 3:2 full-frame sensor found in the EOS C50, an upgrade from the 24.2MP CMOS sensor in the previous Mark II model.

The camera supports 7K Open Gate Internal RAW recording at up to 30p, 4K at up to 120p, and 2K at up to 180p, matching the C50’s capabilities.

Sensor Technology

Unlike the EOS C80, C400, and R3, the R6 Mark III and C50 do not employ a Dual Gain Output (DGO) or back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor. Many manufacturers favor back-illuminated stacked sensors for enhanced autofocus performance, but Canon has opted for a different approach here.

Processor

The EOS R6 Mark III uses the DIGIC DV 7 processor, which is also found in the C50, C80, C400, C500 Mark II, and C300 Mark III models, ensuring strong processing power.

"The exact same 32MP 3:2 full-frame sensor that is found in the EOS C50."

"The camera also uses the DIGIC DV 7 processor, which is the same one that is found in the C50, C80, C400, C500 Mark II, and C300 Mark III."

Summary

The Canon EOS R6 Mark III blends advanced sensor technology and strong video features into a body optimized for photographers, continuing Canon’s innovation in hybrid camera design.
