Canon EOS R6 Mark III Review

The Canon EOS R6 Mark III is a mid-range full-frame mirrorless camera that succeeds the R6 Mark II introduced in 2023. It features a new 32.5-megapixel CMOS sensor, representing a 25% resolution boost over its 24.2-megapixel predecessor, and supports 7K 60p internal RAW video capture.

Performance and Shooting Speed

The camera delivers up to 40 frames per second when using the electronic shutter with continuous autofocus and auto-exposure, or 12 fps with the mechanical shutter. This performance matches the flagship EOS R3. It also enables pre-continuous shooting of up to 20 frames (RAW or JPEG/HEIF) before the shutter is fully pressed.

Buffer and Stabilisation

The EOS R6 Mark III offers a 150-shot uncompressed RAW buffer when using CFexpress cards, doubling the capacity of the previous model. The stabilisation system provides up to 8.5 stops of compensation by combining the in-body Image Stabilizer with lens-based stabilisation technology.

ISO Range and Video Capabilities

The native ISO range extends from 100 to 51200, expandable to ISO 50–102400. Video options include internal RAW recording up to 7K 60p, 7K 30p with Open Gate, high frame rate 4K 120p or 2K 180p, oversampled 4K 60p, and—for the first time on a full-frame EOS—4K 60p UVC live streaming.

"The Canon EOS R6 Mark III raises the bar for hybrid performance, combining high-resolution imaging with fast burst speeds and advanced stabilisation in a compact body."
Author’s Summary

The Canon EOS R6 Mark III pushes mid-range mirrorless performance further with a 32.5MP sensor, rapid burst shooting, and pro-level 4K and 7K video abilities in a portable form factor.
