Lakers fans and the NBA community eagerly await the return of LeBron James, as Los Angeles continues its strong start to the season without its veteran star. According to ESPN insider Shams Charania, the team expects James to be back around mid-November, staying consistent with the timeline set three weeks ago.
The 41-year-old legend has been dealing with sciatica, which sidelined him at the beginning of the season. Despite this, James remains focused on a quick recovery. Team sources indicate his next major step is participating in full five-on-five practices.
"LeBron James could return around mid-November," reported Shams Charania, emphasizing that the organization remains on schedule.
Although James is not joining the Lakers on their five-game road trip that finishes on November 15 in Milwaukee, he may train with the South Bay Lakers, the team’s G League affiliate, during his recovery period.
Even without James, the Lakers have impressed with a 7–2 record, reflecting the club’s strong offseason preparation and roster depth. Luka Dončić, acquired last season, has delivered an exceptional offensive run, averaging 41.3 points per game. Austin Reaves continues to contribute significantly with 31.1 points per game.
These performances have kept the Lakers competitive while providing James time to recover fully. New additions Jake LaRavia, Deandre Ayton, and Marcus Smart have further stabilized the team as their leader prepares for his return.
LeBron James nears a mid-November comeback as the Lakers thrive without him, driven by standout performances from Dončić and Reaves.
