Cameroon’s electronic visa (e-visa) system, launched in April 2023, has generated significant financial returns and improved the efficiency of visa processing. According to official data, the platform recorded 411,439 paid visa applications and collected a total of CFA46.9 billion in revenue.
The fully digital platform enables applicants to complete visa procedures online, reducing processing times and administrative costs. It supports various visa types, including entry, residence, and transit, all processed through secure digital channels.
Authorities highlight that the system enhances transparency and reduces opportunities for fraud and corruption in the visa-handling process. It also responds to the growing demand for modernized public services aligned with Cameroon’s digital transformation agenda.
Officials from the Ministry of External Relations emphasized the success of the project, stating that the e-visa initiative reflects Cameroon’s commitment to promoting easier mobility for travelers while increasing state revenue.
“The e-visa platform strengthens Cameroon’s positioning as a destination open to international cooperation and tourism,” stated a ministry representative.
The government plans to expand the platform’s capabilities by integrating biometric verification and linking it to immigration security databases. These improvements aim to further streamline border management and improve national security.
Cameroon’s e-visa system, active since April 2023, has processed over 411,000 visas and raised CFA46.9 billion, marking a major step in the country’s digital governance and travel facilitation.
