A woman and a child tragically died after falling into a waterway in southeast Melbourne.
The incident occurred around 3:45 pm on Monday at Dandenong Creek, near Allan Street in Dandenong. Authorities believe the mother got into trouble in the water while trying to save the child.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and found both unconscious individuals. Despite performing CPR, they were unable to revive the mother and child, who were pronounced dead on site.
Neither victim has been formally identified yet. Police are preparing a report to be submitted to the coroner for further investigation.
