DeepSeek researcher warns AI could wipe out jobs in 10 years — and tech companies should be 'guardians of humanity'

DeepSeek Researcher Warns AI Could Erase Jobs Within a Decade

Chen Deli, a senior researcher from the Chinese AI firm DeepSeek, warned that artificial intelligence could eliminate most human jobs within the next 10 to 20 years. Speaking at the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, he emphasized that society will face major structural challenges as AI advances.

“During this period, societal structures will also be greatly challenged,” said Chen Deli. “Tech companies should play the role of guardians of humanity, at the very least, protecting human safety, then helping to reshape societal order.”

Chen noted that, in the short term, AI’s effects would likely be beneficial, calling this initial stage the “honeymoon phase,” during which AI still relies on human guidance to complete tasks and serves as a productivity enhancer.

DeepSeek, headquartered in Hangzhou, has maintained a low public profile since it gained major attention earlier in the year. The company’s CEO, Liang Wenfeng, has not appeared publicly since meeting with China’s leader Xi Jinping in February. During the Wuzhen event, Chen appeared alongside executives from five other Chinese AI companies, popularly known as the “six little dragons,” a group that includes Alibaba Cloud and Unitree.

Summary

DeepSeek’s Chen Deli warns that within two decades AI could disrupt most jobs and urges tech firms to act as protectors of human welfare and stability.
